Founder, Building Bridges & Hope · Atlanta organizer & former pastor.

His story

Eddie Meredith is a son of Atlanta, and he has spent his life on its hardest blocks. Before titles and platforms, he was a pastor at the Church of Hope and an organizer — the kind who shows up before the cameras do. The work was never abstract: hot meals served by hand, supplies carried into the neighborhoods the city tends to forget, and time spent sitting with people most institutions walk past.

In 2025, Eddie carried that work to the ballot. He announced a run for Mayor of Atlanta — a nonpartisan campaign built not on slogans but on the same thing he'd already been doing: walking alongside the city's most economically challenged neighbors. He didn't win the office; the incumbent did. But the throughline of his campaign was never really about the office. It was about showing up.

What he ran on

His platform read like a portrait of who he is — practical where it counts, and unafraid to name what's broken:

2025 mayoral platform

  • Homes First Atlanta — a commitment to build 25,000 affordable homes over five years, putting housing at the center.
  • Closing the wage gap — so work in Atlanta actually pays enough to live in Atlanta.
  • Paying first responders what the job is worth.
  • Systemic healing — his own phrase for repairing the harm built into the system, not just patching its symptoms.
  • Participatory governance — putting decisions closer to the people they affect.

You don't have to agree with every plank to see the person underneath it: someone who believes a city is measured by how it treats the people with the least.

From the campaign trail to the corner

Building Bridges & Hope is that same conviction, narrowed to a single, stubborn focus: the kids. Meet them where they are. Walk with them. Build the bridge — a meal, a bed, a trade, a mentor, a first paycheck — that gets them across to a life they can stand on. It's the campaign promise made small enough to keep, one young person at a time.

My mission is to serve the people of Atlanta with integrity, vision, and action. I am committed to building a city where every resident feels safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.
